Frequently Asked Questions

New to the Treehouse Community? Here are answers to some frequently asked questions.

I have zero yoga experience and I am not flexible at all. Which classes should I join?

All of our classes are beginner-friendly and flexibility is not a requirement! However, if you really have zero yoga practice, we recommend you join the Yin Yang Flow, Slow Flow, or Hatha-Vinyasa classes. These are the best ones for complete beginners. You may check out the schedules by clicking BOOK YOUR CLASS on the header anywhere on this website. All you really have to do is bring a little courage with you to class.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Since there are only limited slots available, we require all our students to book ahead of time and prepay for their slot. All reservations are non-refundable but transferrable, and you may make changes up to 30 minutes prior to class.

If it is your first time, we encourage you to arrive at the studio 15 minutes before class starts. This will allow you enough time to find our studio, park your car, meet the teacher, fill out the attendance sheet, and to get acquainted with the studio facilities and equipment.

What should I wear? What should I bring?

Wear light, stretchy (but not too loose) clothing in which you can move easily—but can provide the cover appropriate for you when moving through postures. This is so you won't have to worry about fixing your clothing during class.

For women, you may wear leggings or tight-fitting shorts and a t-shirt/tank top with light cloth, while the men can wear basketball shorts, cycling shorts, and a t-shirt or tank top.

We encourage everyone to bring your own mat, towel, water bottle, and other props you think you may need. We have yoga mats, blocks, and pillows available at the studio, and while we constantly sanitize these, but please use at your own risk.

For evening Meditation/Recentering Practice classes, we may or may not turn on the airconditioner and we don't sweat much as this is mostly stretching and staying low on your mat. You may bring blankets and pillows and you may come in warmer clothes.

How do I prepare for a class?

Our classes are 75 minutes long. Here are some pointers to prepare for class:

  • Arrive at least 15 minutes early to get settled.
  • Come to class hydrated; don't try to play catch up with drinking water during class or chug a lot of water right before class.
  • Avoid large meals up to three hours prior to class.
  • If new, you may want to set up in the back row so you can follow students who practice regularly.
  • Listen to the teacher's guidance as they describe the poses. He or she will provide cues to help you come safely into and out of the poses.
  • Take a break or skip a pose or two if practice becomes too challenging for you.

Do you have parking space?

Our building has 5 parking spaces on a first-come-first-serve basis. Parking can be tricky on some days and it is never guaranteed, so if you are from the area, we suggest taking a bike or other means of transportation so we can free up the parking slots for those who are not from BF Homes. In case you are bringing a car with you, please be mindful with your parking so others may use the slots beside you.

What are the studio policies and studio etiquette?

We aim to provide a safe space for everyone in the community, and we would appreciate if you abide by the following policies and studio etiquette:

  • All our teachers are vaccinated and boosted from COVID-19. In case you are not, please manage your own risk.
  • Our classes are open to students 14 years old and above. If you have children below 14 who wish to try yoga, kindly schedule a private session with our teachers.
  • Currently, class size is limited to 18 mats, and we no longer allow walk-in students into the class. Please schedule and pay online.
  • Please be on time. For safety purposes, we close the gate 5 minutes after the class starts (i.e. if the class is scheduled at 7:00 PM, we close the gate at 7:05 PM) especially for night classes.
  • Treehouse Yoga is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Please consider not bringing your valuables with you into the studio.
  • Make sure your devices are on silent or airplane mode when entering the studio. Kindly turn off the vibrate function as this can still be distracting, and be mindful of any phone alarms you may have activated.
  • Please be considerate of other students' space when setting up your mat. If you come in with students already in the room, please lay down your mat quietly especially when students are already trying to get into a calming mood.
  • We start all our classes with a centering meditation piece. If you come in late, please refrain from entering the room when the centering session is ongoing so you don't disturb the others. The teacher will signal when you can already enter, usually when the warm up is about to begin.
  • You may skip a pose or a sequence or modify them for depth; however, we would appreciate it if you do not deviate too far from the teacher's instructions. Coming to a different flow creates unnecessary distraction and can break the positive energy of the class.
  • Please observe silence in class, or when waiting for a class to finish.
  • If you need to step out of the room while the class is ongoing, please do so discreetly so as not to disturb the other students.
  • If you need to leave before savasana or the closing meditation, please inform the teacher before the class starts so she can tell you when you can step out before starting the final resting pose. Kindly do so quietly.
  • If you plan to shower after class, please inform the teacher prior. Our teachers will close and lock the studio 15 minutes after class is done.

Are we allowed to take photos and videos or use our mobile phones in class?

We have a strict NO PHONES ON THE FLOOR policy at the studio. You are allowed to take photos and videos AFTER class, but NOT during the class proper. While we respect that we all have different intentions for practicing, let us also be mindful and consider the privacy and intentions of other students.

Most teachers will also invite you to take a class photo. You may or may not join this post-class activity.

I have am pregnant, have some physical limitations, an ailment, or an injury. Can I still attend your regular classes?

While we believe that yoga is for everyone regardless of the circumstance, we recommend consulting your doctor first regarding your condition. In special cases, we do have Yoga Therapists and Prenatal Yoga Teachers in our roster of teachers and we can schedule a free assessment for you. Kindly get in touch with us with all the details pertaining to your case.
